Last week I attended portions of the Renegade Games summit. I am extremely grateful to Scott Gaeta for hosting at his home and for allowing me to participate with the rest of the team. There were so many interesting prototypes that hit the table over the two days and I can say there are exciting things in the future for Renegade Games.
This weekend was also Kingdom-Con, a fantastic local convention coordinated by Ross Thompson and his team. This year we partnered with them to bring Unpub Mini San Diego to the board game room at Kingdom-Con. We had a great slate of local designers testing their games, and presence from several amazing publishers including Breaking Games, Renegade Games, and USAopoly who were all also sponsors of the game raffle. Tasty Minstrel, Ad Magic, Broken Token and Tabletop simulator also supplied prizes to the raffle and The Game Crafter once again sponsored with tons of blank game components for our designers. It was a great event, and Dave Berlin, Jessica Berlin and David Moskowitz all did a lot of work to make the event possible. I know I will greatly miss Dave and Jessica when they move North this summer.
A big announcement will be coming very soon...stay tuned!
status updates
Eggs in a Basket: Still balancing the deck ratio and considering different card abilities. The last play through at Unpub Mini SD felt really solid.
Faberge Chickens/Gem Hens: The publisher is still testing the latest version, and things are progressing nicely.
Spell Bound Books: I had a chance to test new mechanics based on the Cardboard Edison feedback during Unpub Mini SD. The players were very enthusiastic and several asked to buy a copy of the game - which is always a good sign.
Spirit of the Trees: Some new ideas are circulating on this one. Jim was working on a different mechanic and may have found a way to incorporate it into this design.
Frankenstein Academy: Still reviewing and compiling the judges feedback from Cardboard Edison to develop a plan for next steps.
Mountains Out of Molehills: Scheduled to enter the development phase after Faberge Chickens/Gem Hens.
Restaurateur, Glockenspiel, and Goblin Toboggan: On hold while we focus on the projects listed above.
