Cardboard Edison Award winners were announced yesterday. While I am disappointed that neither Frankenstein Academy or Spell Bound Books were selected as winners, I am super excited that Dave Berlin from Galvanized Studios won 2nd place with Cobblestone Market! The judges also provided me with pages of feedback for each game and there are some clear and consistent themes that are very actionable to make the games better.
For Spell Bound Books the balance of points on the cards and the potion actions need some refining. The good news is all the judges seemed to enjoy the core mechanic of moving the book pieces around and solving the puzzle in that part of the game. One of the judges comments sparked an idea that I think will significantly streamline the cards and make that part of the game more elegant.
Frankenstein Academy may need a bit more work, and I plan to tackle that after refining Spell Bound Books and the next iteration of Action News Team.
The Secret Cabal Gaming Podcast Kickstarter is now live. They have hit their target of $80,000 so it looks like Jamie is going to get to make the podcast and related channels his full time gig. It is always very exciting to see a member of the game community transition to living out their dream full time.
Unpub San Diego @ Kingdom-Con is rapidly approaching. We are still reaching out to sponsors for game donations to support the event and we are always looking for more cool folks to come try all the prototypes that will be at the event. My current plan is to have a solid version of Action News Team ready for that weekend.

status updates
Action News Team: Enhancements based on the Unpub feedback are still on-going. Cards are printed and ready to be cut and sleeved. The player board updates are underway and things are progressing steadily.
Eggs in a Basket: Still balancing the deck ratio and considering different card abilities.
Faberge Chickens/Gem Hens: Jim had an amazing idea to address some feedback from our publisher. He devised a new attack mechanic that helped pace the game better and added some interesting player interaction, I'm really excited about this change.
Spell Bound Books: As noted in the 'news' refinements to the customer order card deck are underway, and I plan to test a new mechanic with those cards.
Frankenstein Academy: Currently reviewing and compiling the judges feedback from Cardboard Edison to develop a plan for next steps.
Mountains Out of Molehills: Scheduled to enter the development phase after Faberge Chickens/Gem Hens.
Restaurateur, Glockenspiel, Spirit of the Trees and Goblin Toboggan: On hold while we focus on the projects listed above.
